Mission statement
The Canada Magnetoencephalography Consortium (CMC) was formed to coordinate, support, and enhance the fundamental and applied scientific research and development at Magnetoencephalography (MEG) brain imaging centres across Canada. This initiative will leverage the investment in equipment and personnel to standardize and communicate methods across Canadian MEG labs. Today, there are approximately 360 scientists and graduate students involved in MEG research across Canada.
The purpose of the CMC is to promote:
- state-of-the-art research using magnetoencephalography (MEG) to understand normal and abnormal brain function
- access to MEG laboratories for university, hospital, and government laboratory researchers across Canada
- education in MEG methods (training of highly qualified personnel (HQP))
- interdisciplinary research involving MEG
- communication of advances in MEG research to the scientific community and the general public
Specific CMC Initiatives:
- Hold training workshops
- Facilitate the development and sharing of platform-independent software
- Annual scientific meeting

The event met with tremendous success: the 70 seats available were entirely booked about 2 weeks before the meeting and the laptop hands-on software demonstration went smoothly for all our participants.
Pictures and feedback from attendees are available through
this link. The teaching slides are also available under the name of each speaker, in
the program pages.
Another CMC training workshop is in preparation for 2012, and will be hosted by the Rotman Institute, in Baycrest, Ontario. Register to the
CMC mailing list to stay tuned!
